In the September issue of Shojo Beat Viz Pictures announced plans to release the live action movie based on Aya Nakahara's shojo manga, Love*Com (also known as Lovely Complex).  Viz plans to introduce the 100-minute film, which was directed by Kitani Ishikawa, to American audiences in the spring of 2008.  Produced by Tohokushinsa Film Corporation, the Love*Com live action film debuted in Japan on July 15th, 2006.

The 16-volume Love*Com manga series, which ran in Japan from September of 2001 to December of 2006 in Shueisha's Betsuma anthology magazine, is a delightful high school romance saga based on the old 'opposites attract' adage.  In this case the opposites are a tall girl and a short guy, who start out hating each other and slowly develop a relationship while ostensibly courting others.  Viz Media published the first English language volume of the Love*Com manga on July 3rd.  Volume 2 is due out in September, with Volume 3 slated for November.

In addition to the live action movie, the Love*Com manga has also spawned a 26-episode anime series from Toei Animation that debuted in Japan on April 7th of this year.  So far no U.S. company has announced the acquisition of the Love*Com anime series, but its Shueisha pedigree would appear to make it a likely candidate for Viz Media's Shojo Beat Home Video line.
