A recent article in the Los Angeles Times by Jay Fernandez cleared up some of the confusion over who is writing Marvel Studio's new Hulk film, which is slated for release on June 13th, 2008.  Comments by Marvel Studio's President Kevin Feige at the San Diego Comic-Con left a cloud of ambiguity hanging over the question of who was responsible for the script for the Hulk movie.  Zak Penn, who has written a number of films based on Marvel properties (Elektra, X2, X3), spent a year working on the Hulk script before Edward Norton became involved in the project, was widely credited as the writer of the new movie, but director Louis Leterrier was not completely satisfied with the Penn script and when Norton signed on, the actor had definite ideas of how to improve the script and, according to the Times, his deal includes payments for both acting and rewriting the screenplay.

The Times article indicates that Norton's changes involved making the film more of an origin story like Batman Begins.  Norton reportedly turned in a script in 30 days and continues to make revisions during the shooting, which is currently underway near Toronto.  How the screenplay credits are going to read on the actual film is yet to be determined, but Norton has a fan in Marvel's Feige who told the Times, 'Yes, he is that good a writer that I would definitely work with him on another movie that he wasn't starring in.'
