'Street Fighter' Gets Director

Production Starting Early 08

Variety is reporting that the Street Fighter movie has a director.  Andrzej Bartkowiak (Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle to the Grave, plus a long career as a cinematographer) will begin shooting the film based on the Capcom videogame early next year.

Justin Marks, who's been on a bit of a run lately with scripts for Voltron, Green Arrow, and He-Man (see 'Voltron Movie Close') is polishing his script.

A Street Fighter film should be a boon for pop culture retailers, who already have action figures and the UFS TCG from Sabertooth, which would undoubtedly be joined by a new flow of merchandise.
