Two U.S. hentai anime producers, Critical Mass Video (a sister company of Right Stuf International) and Adult Source Media have joined together to battle illegal downloads of their licensed properties.  The companies are targeting Websites that offer material for which the companies own the rights free or for sale, and pursuing civil and criminal chargers against their operators.  The companies noted that Websites that misappropriate anime and offer them for sale, or free, are taking revenue from the creators of the work, reducing the ability not only of the U.S. companies to license the works, but also of Japanese companies to produce future anime.
