The American Library Association will launch a gaming pavilion at its 2008 annual conference in Anaheim this June.  The pavilion will group both tabletop and electronic game exhibitors, who will show games that can be used for both curriculum-based instruction and recreation.

Games are a growing area for libraries, with a recent survey indicating that 43% run an actual gaming program and 20% circulate games.

Gen Con CEO Peter Adkison is a supporter of the new initiative by the ALA.  "Gen Con is thrilled to partner with the ALA and join in their initiative to grow gaming in libraries," Adkison said.  "We feel as if gaming provides a great opportunity for families and community to grow and learn together.  We are excited to be a part of the ALA Annual Conference and support the Games Pavilion."

The American Library Association Annual Conference will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center, June 28th to July 1st.  The event is the largest gathering of librarians in the United States.
