The WB network is moving its premier series, Smallville, from Tuesday nights to Wednesday starting this fall.  The saga of young Superman will serve as a lead-in for Angel, the Buffy spin-off that is set to return for its fifth season.  Smallville scored historically high ratings this season for the WB, especially in the coveted 18-35 demographic (see 'Smallville Ratings Hit All Time High'), so the move to Wednesday was not done out of weakness or desperation.  Angel's ratings also improved late in the season, and the addition of another 'vampire with a soul,' Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, should help Angel keep its ratings momentum.

On Sunday nights the Frog will air Smallville: Beginnings -- reruns of the earlier episodes of the series, which will serve as a lead-in to Tarzan and Jane, a modern take on the Edgar Rice Burroughs' character who is forced to adapt to life in the urban jungle in this new series (see 'Teen Tarzan Swinging To The WB') set in New York City.
