DC Comics will publish a new Robotech mini-series, Robotech Invasion, under its Wildstorm imprint. The first issue in the new series should be in stores on January 7, 2004.  The series features covers by Yoshitaka Amano, the great character designer, and interior art by Takeshi Miyazawa and Omar Dogan.  Set in the year 2038, the main story in the comic chronicles the fearsome Invid invasion, while the back-up story, which is set 35 years earlier, tells the story of the first Earth colony on Mars.  The first issue in the series also features an alternate cover by Cully Hamner.

Wildstorm acquired the Robotech comic license a little over a year ago (see 'Wildstorm Wins Robotech Comic License').  The first Wildstorm trade paperback collection, Robotech: From the Stars, ships to retailers in November along with the sixth and final issue of the second Wildstorm Robotech mini-series, Robotech: Love and War.  With a plethora of Robotech toys from Toynami (see 'Robotech Masterpiece Collection Ships'), this retro, anime-based property remains a key property for many pop culture retailers.
