Top Shelf's sales of Craig Thompson's reality based graphic novel Blankets (see 'Blankets Cracks the Bookscan Top 50') continue to be strong.  The first printing of 10,000 copies sold out quickly (see 'First Printing of Blankets Sells Out in Five Weeks').  Now, Publisher Chris Staros told ICv2 that another 10,000 copies have been shipped, bringing the total to 20,000 books.

Eighty percent of those copies (16,000) have gone to bookstores, with comic stores getting the remaining 4,000.  Although initial orders from comic stores were a paltry 1500 copies, reorders from that channel have been relatively strong, accounting for another 2500 copies.

The strong sales in the bookstore channel may be due in part to the glowing reviews the book has received in the mainstream press, such as Entertainment Weekly, Time, and the New York Times (see 'EW Discovers Comics,' and 'NY Times Review of Books Does Mad Art, Blankets'), which may have pushed new readers into bookstores looking for Blankets.
