USA Today is reporting that a decision to resume production of Family Guy is expected soon; 20th Century Fox could order up to 35 new episodes, to begin airing in January 2005.  The decision would be made based on the strong sales of two DVD sets, which have sold over 1,000,000 and 520,000 copies, respectively, making the series the best-selling TV show of the year and the #4 TV title ever.  Reruns are also getting good ratings on Cartoon Network.

Plans for a direct-to-video feature release were recently afoot (see 'A New Family Guy Movie').  The series plans appear to have pre-empted the feature.
