The GAMA Retailer Division met and held elections during the recently concluded GAMA Trade Show in Las Vegas (see 'Up Show in Down Year'), and established a committee to 'research the issues and support for creating an independent retail-focused trade organization.'  The committee will be chaired by Gabriel 'Mondo' Vega (The Name of the Game), who was also the Division Chairman elected at the meeting.

We've also been hearing about a nascent comic retailer organization; perhaps there's something in the air.

The Retail Organization Exploratory Committee was one of four established at the meeting.  The others were the Programming Committee, which is to develop the 2006 GTS programming track; the Business Development Committee, which will handle the GAMA Seminar Aftercare and Retail Mentorship programs; and the International Committee.

New board members and officers elected at the meeting are Vega; Laurel King (Titan Games) as Vice-Chair; Jim Crocker (Modern Myths) re-elected as Secretary; and Rob Moses (Knightly Games), Jason Zara (Chimera Games nad Hobbies), and Dave and Kelli Wallace (The Fantasy Shop) as Retail Board Directors.
