Dark Horse Indie, the new film division of Dark Horse Entertainment, and Image Entertainment (the producer and distributor of home video programming -- not Image Comics), have announced a slate of films that will be co-produced by both companies.  Image and Dark Horse currently have seven films in various stages of production and approximately five additional projects in development.

The films currently underway for either theatrical or home video distribution include: My Name is Bruce, directed by and starring Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness); Dream Corridor, a Twilight Zone-like anthology written and hosted by Harlan Ellison; Monarch of the Moon, a 1940s-style serial comedy featuring America's greatest superhero, the Yellow Jacket, that is currently in post-production; Destination Mars, a comedy science fiction follow-up to Monarch of the Moon; Gone, a haunted house saga which John Landis (Animal House) will direct;  Driftwood, a supernatural teen thriller written and directed by 2001 Maniacs helmer Tim Sullivan; and Splinter, a drama about youth gangs and cops starring Edward James Olmos.

For laserdisc and DVD pioneer Image Entertainment, which recently spurned a takeover bid by Lion's Gate, the deal provides a chance to create content instead of license it and access to a wide range of Dark Horse-developed properties from horror and science fiction to superhero adventures and anime.  For Dark Horse, the deal provides help in financing projects as well as strong home video distribution for the resulting projects, whether or not the films ever receive theatrical runs.
