Central Park Media, in cooperation with CoMix Wave of Japan, has acquired the North American rights to the anime feature Negadon:  The Monster from Mars, directed by Jun Awazu.  Awazu previously directed Magara:  The Final Showdown and Magara:  The Giant Monster.

Three years in production, Negadon is the first completely computer-generated monster movie; special rendering algorithms were developed  to reproduce a 50s-style film look.  This homage to 50s and 60s kaiju films was released in Japan last October.

The story is set in 2025, in a heavily over-populated earth looking for more room.  In a classic kaiju-style plot, a spaceship returning from a Mars terraforming project crashes in Tokyo, releasing a monster from underneath the surface of Mars.  Only Dr. Narasaki and his long-abandoned robot Miroku can save the world.

Negadon will be released theatrically in the States this spring and on home video this summer.  CoMix Wave will handle worldwide distribution.
