The Anime News Network is reporting that FUNimation has licensed the Crayon Shin-chan anime series.  Based on the manga by Yoshito Usui (a number of volume of which were published in the U.S. by Comics One), the Crayon Shin-chan anime (aka Super Kindergarten Child Crayon Shin-chan in Japan) follows the adventures of a five-year-old boy whose inappropriate behavior has occasioned calls for censorship from Japanese parents.  While Shin-chan's antics may not be as malevolent as the deeds of the older Bart Simpson, it would appear that this series is destined for the Adult Swim block rather than Toonami.

FUNimation has not yet formally announced the acquisition, so it is not apparent if the deal includes both the Crayon Shin-chan TV series and Crayon Shin-chan movies.
