Comic stores around the world are gearing up for Free Comic Book Day, which is coming up in only two weeks on May 6th.  Although books are ordered (see 'FCBD Comics Announced') and most plans already in place, there are still a number of promotional steps that can be taken for those that haven't finalized their plans.

Diamond's Website has fill-in-the-blanks press releases, images of the books and logos, a customizable event calendar listing, local media tips, a resource for finding contact people for your local media, and a list of talking points to help retailers make it through those media interviews.  Free Comic Book Day banners can also still be ordered.  A central Website is available for retailers to post their celebrity appearances.

One new promotional effort this year is centered around MySpace.com, and its 71 million members.  Anyone with a MySpace account is encouraged to link to the FCBD MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/freecomicbookday) as one of their Top 8 friends, which will help drive traffic to the page that offers basic facts, links to the official Website, online versions of the FCBD commercial, cover art, and more.
