The Hollywood trades are reporting that Gerard Butler (Phantom of the Opera, 300) and Steven Strait (Sky High, The Covenant) are set to star in the post-apocalyptic vampire western, Priest, based on the 15-volume manhwa series by Min Woo Hyung and published by Tokyopop.  Butler will play the title role of a renegade priest who hunts down a band of vampires with the help of a small town sheriff (Strait).

Spider-Man helmer Sam Raimi, who is also producing another comic book-based vampire saga, 30 Days of Night, is producing Priest, which will be directed by Andrew Douglas (Amityville Horror) from a script by Cory Goodman.  The hiring of Butler and Strait is further confirmation of the earlier reports that this project is actually set for filming (see 'Priest Movie Set to Shoot').
