Marvel announced at the Diamond Retailers Summit in Baltimore that Brian K. Vaughn and Adrian Alphona will end their run on Marvel's Runaways with #24; the new team will be Joss Whedon and Michael Ryan.

Runaways has acquired a great crossover audience under Vaughn's authorship.  Among the awards it's received this year are the Harvey for best continuing series (see 'Marvel Wins Five Harveys') and a YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association) choice as one of the 2006 Best Books for Young Adults (see 'YALSA Includes Graphic Novels').

Whedon is a suitably high profile successor to Vaughn, the 'it' writer of the year (see 'Brian K. Vaughn Feted in 'New York Times'').  Among his many TV, film, and comic credits, Whedon just received an Eisner award for his work on Astonishing X-Men (see 'DC Dominates Eisners').
