Sabertooth Games CEO Steve Horvath announced the forthcoming cancellation of two of Sabertooth's high profile collectible card games on the company's Website.  Horvath justified the decisions by citing 'trying times for the CCG industry,' and noting that 'WarCry and the Warhammer 40,000 CCG's have had great runs since their release, but over the last year sales, participation in events and tournaments has declined to the point where it is no longer viable for us to continue production of these two lines.'

While sales have flagged on WarCry and Warhammer 40K, Sabertooth's UFS (Universal Fighting System) CCGs have been gaining momentum (see 'Streetfighter Boosters Sold Out').  Sabertooth plans to concentrate on its UFS games adding new mechanics and rules as well as new challengers.

Sabertooth is not immediately abandoning the WarCry and Warhammer CCGs. WarCry, which debuted more than four years ago, will have its final release, Veterans of Battle on the 15th of January, while Warhammer 40K Dark Millennium will have two additional releases, Shadows of the Warp in January and Prophecy's Peril in April.

Sabertooth plans on maintaining organized play programs for both the WarCry and Warhammer 40K CCGs until June 2007 with some special events added to the regular OP schedule.
