Education and Disney XD will be two beneficiaries of the deal for Disney to acquire Lucasfilm announced last week (see "Disney Acquires Lucasfilm!").  Disney XD is expected to get the rights to broadcast Star Wars: The Clone Wars when Lucasfilm’s deal with Cartoon Network expires after the current season, according to Hollywood Reporter.  No official announcement has been made by either network, Disney, or Lucasfilm at this point.

And charitable causes will also benefit from the sale; George Lucas expects to donate the bulk of the $4.05 billion proceeds from the sale to a foundation that will focus on educational issues, also according to Hollywood Reporter.  In a statement a couple of years ago, Lucas said of his devotion to education, "I am dedicating the majority of my wealth to improving education.  It is the key to the survival of the human race."
