James Gunn, who’s been signed to direct and write Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film (see “’Guardians’ Director to Write”), has been blowing up all over the Internet this week due to a post he put up over a year ago titled “The 50 Superheroes You Most Want to Have Sex With,” which contained a variety of controversial comments. This post on Lady Geek Girl and Friends covers it pretty well, and links to the tumblrs that seem to have found the post first. You can get the idea from the headline: “James Gunn is a Sexist, Homophobic Jerk.” Gunn’s original post has now been deleted, but lives on in cache form.

Some are calling for him to be fired from the film; we’ll see if it blows over or gets more traction as time goes on. It’s gotten a lot of response in just a day or two, so seems to have some legs.

Meanwhile, casting for the film is already underway, with a number of male leads testing for the Peter Quill character, according to Deadline. Among the actors involved are Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace, and Eddie Redmayne.
