Warner Bros. has released a new full-length, 2.5-minute trailer for Zack Snyder’s Superman epic Man of Steel.  The new trailer presents the original comic book superhero with a certain solemnity that befits superhero royalty.  In addition to addressing the film’s lofty themes of service and self-sacrifice the trailer also includes glimpses of the film’s special effects sequences including a brief shot or two of what is likely the destruction of Krypton.  But perhaps the most effective shot shows Superman ascending vertically through a picturesque cloudy sky.  It appears that this is the trailer that will play along with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which opens this weekend (see "Warners Flogs 'Man of Steel'").

Snyder’s Man of Steel, which stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent.  Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, is one of the most highly anticipated superhero movies of next summer.  It will debut on June 14th.
