Playroom Entertainment will be offering two new licensed games based on the ever-popular world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s books.  The Lord of the Rings Card Game and The Hobbit Board Game are both planned for release in the second quarter, 2013.  These games are based on the literary works of Tolkien, not the films based on those books.

In The Lord of the Rings Card Game, designed by Andreas Zimmermann, players try to build "fellowships" of characters from Tolkien’s books to combat the "enemies" from Mordor.  To succeed, the fellowship must have the proper symbols to defeat those enemies, while avoiding the "Eye of Sauron."

The game is designed for two to four players and takes about half an hour to play.  Suggested retail price will be $15.00.

The Hobbit Board Game is based on the novel of the same name and was designed by Keith Meyers and Michael Stern to be a family game.  Players must make their way to the Lonely Mountain to defeat the dragon Smaug, solving riddles and gaining aid from Gandalf on the way.

The game is intended for two to six players, and plays in about 30 minutes.  Suggested retail price will be $30.00.
