Billy Tucci, creator of Shi and writer/artist of Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion, has drawn a 24-page version of the Christmas story, which will be published as a $5.99 graphic novella in November by new company Apostle Arts, LLC.

Billy Tucci’s A Child Is Born will feature colors by Paul Mounts.  The story has been researched with Nativity scholars, and is taken directly from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke.  Tucci promises that “every panel will feel like a painting.”

Apostle Arts was formed by Tucci, Evan Archilla, grandson of Lost Battalion hero Lt. Col. Eliel Archilla, and Dr. Jason Peet.

Tucci says he has been developing the project for over a decade, but was drawn to produce it now as the result of his wife’s breast cancer diagnosis.
