The recently announced “first look” deal between BOOM! Studios and the Cartoon Network, which gives BOOM! Studios the first option to license new Cartoon Network properties for adaptation into comics and graphic novels (see "BOOM! Gets CN First Look"), has borne fruit again with the announcement of a June debut for a new comic based on the Cartoon Network’s The Amazing World of Gumball.

Created by Ben Bocquelet, The Amazing World of Gumball, which will begin its third season in May, is a British/American series produced the Cartoon Network’s European Development Studio.  What sets The Amazing World of Gumball apart from a lot of its anarchic contemporaries is its well-developed world and storylines that often display quite a bit of heart--and both of these traits should translate well into kids comics for Boom’s Kaboom imprint.

According to Comics Alliance, Frank Gibson will be writing The Amazing World of Gumball with Tyson Hesse providing the interior art.  Gibson and Hesse are veterans of Kaboom’s Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors comics, and are hoping to establish yet another successful animated cartoon to comic book adaptation.  The first issue of The Amazing World of Gumball will have five alternate covers.  The covers by artists Missy Pena, Zachary Sterling, Paulina Ganucheau, Troy Little, and Sonnye Lim certainly indicate that the comic will attempt to mirror the cartoons mixture of 2-D characters set in a 3-D animated environment.
