At the GAMA Trade Show, Wyrd Miniatures was sharing info on Through the Breach, the upcoming tabletop RPG adaptation of its Malifaux skirmish game.
In January 2013, the Kickstarter project raised $243,945 from 1,546 backers ($157.79 per backer average). While trade release dates have not been announced, information on the Kickstarter page and in Wyrd’s forums indicates the first books are at the printers, and release information should be available soon. The first three books are the The Fated Almanac, The Fate Master’s Almanac, and The Fate Master’s Kit. Since the RPG description describes the game as being card-driven, there will undoubtedly be a Fate Deck available as well.
In the game, players take the roles of various citizens (Gunfighters, Drudges, Dabblers, and Entertainers), known as the Fated. The Fated know their future, but can choose to embrace or thwart the destiny that has been thrust upon them. The game master is the Fatemaster, who moves the story along, pushing each Fated towards their fortune. Actions are resolved through the reveal of cards from a communal Fate Deck. Each player also has a Twist Deck they can use to push fate toward their own desires.
