BOOM! Studios and Twentieth Century Consumer Products have announced plans to release a limited series based on the film of the same name, which opens in theaters this weekend (see "Final 'Dawn of Planet of the Apes' Trailer").

Shaw cover
The six issue series will be written by Michael Moreci (Hoax Hunters, Quarantined).  The interior illustrator has not been announced, but the main cover will be done by Christopher Mitten (Wasteland ), and an incentive cover will be drawn by Jay Shaw (Night of the Living Deadpool).  The story will cover the ten year gap between the Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes films, detailing the rise of Caesar’s ape civilization, while on the other side of the country, human Malcolm (played by Jason Clarke in the film) searches for a cure for the plague that is slowly killing his wife.

Comic Con one shot
BOOM! and Twentieth Century Fox will also debut a one-shot comic prequel for the movie at  San Diego Comic Con:  Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: Contagion.  The story is written by Caleb Monroe (Steel and Mrs. Peel), with illustration by Tom Derenick (Injustice: Gods Among Us, Justice League of America), and cover illustration by Garry Brown (The Massive).  The story follows Ellie (played by Keri Russell in the movie) as she attempts to find a cure for the plague before it claims her daughter.  The $5.00 one-shot will be a con exclusive, and is BOOM!’s first time offering a comic at a convention.
