Fantasy Flight Games continues its heavy support for its dungeon-delving boardgame Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition.  The fourth in a series of "Hero and Monster Collections," Guardians of Deephall will features new heroes, new monsters, and new quests for the game.  It is expected to release in the fourth quarter.

The storyline of this new expansion centers on the mountain city of Deephall, which lies under siege by armies of undead and dark priests.  Four heroes--the orc warrior Mordrog, Lord Hawthorne, the healer Sahla, and the assassin known as Silhouette have banded together to save the town.  To succeed, they will have to confront not only the Dark Priests, but also dangerous wendigos and crypt dragons that make their homes in the frozen mountain caves nearby.

Guardians of Deephall will include four new hero figures and three new monster figure groups.  These figures were part of the first edition of Descent, but are new to the second edition of the game.  The models feature new sculpts, and all the characters and monsters have been brought in line with the second edition rules.

The expansion will also include two new quests.  In "Guardians of Deephall," the heroes must halt the undead assault on the walls of the city.  "The Curse of Iona" presents an icy dragon sorceress’ lair, in which the heroes must discover a sacred pendant to save the city from destruction.

Guardians of Deephall will have a suggested retail price of $34.95.  It will include four hero models, two crypt dragons, three wendigos, and four dark priests.  All required cards and character sheets are included.  As an expansion, a copy of Descent:  Journeys in the Dark Second Edition is required to play.

This expansion follows the third Hero and Monster Collection, scheduled to release in August (See "'Descent: Crusade of the Forgotten'").
