Archie dies saving his friend Kevin Keller, who’s been recently elected senator, in Life with Archie #36, which goes on sale Wednesday. The death had been previously announced, but the manner of death had been unrevealed until today.
Archie publisher Jon Goldwater told the Associated Press that Archie dies in an attempt to stop an assassination of Keller, who had been arguing for tougher gun control after his husband was involved in a shooting.
In addition to the double-sized Life with Archie #36 death issue, #37 will be a look back at Archie’s life. Both issues will have multiple covers (which are reproduced here, see "Archie Andrews R.I.P.").
