Upper Deck will include playable Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game cards in the 2014 Upper Deck Marvel 3D Trading Card set, releasing in November. The Legendary cards are exclusive to hobby boxes.
The base set is composed of 100 cards, which feature Upper Deck’s 3D lenticular printing. The interesting inclusion this year is the prominently featured Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game cards in every Hobby pack. Each pack will contain two playable Legendary DBG cards in the 6-card packs, with a total of 40 Legendary DBG cards per hobby box. There is also a “box hit” of one playable Legendary Sketch Card per box.
Exactly which Legendary cards are included with this product has not been announced, but it’s worth noting that the solicitation information states the Legendary cards "contain original art and game mechanics" and "most of the cards will be immediately usable in the Legendary Deck Building Game." Upper Deck did not respond to requests for clarification.
Each carton contains 12 boxes, and each box contains 20 packs of 6 cards. Each hobby pack will also include a Base Set Variant, Base Set Die-Cut Parallel, 3D Comic Cover or Affinity Lenticular Insert Card.
The Marvel Legendary game is currently ranked at #3 of the most popular card/dice games for Spring 2014 (see "Top 10 Card/Dice Games--Spring 2014").
This release will follow closely on the heels of the small box Guardians of the Galaxy expansion for the Legendary: Marvel DBG in October (see "'Legendary: Guardians of the Galaxy'").
