New York Comic Con News: On the eve of the New York Comic Con Dynamite Entertainment has announced a major expansion of its high-end Art Edition program, which involves high-resolution color scanning of original storyboard artwork, capturing the look of the artwork as originally illustrated, with all blue lines, corrections, pasted letters, editorial notes, and other distinctive creative elements intact. Dynamite has announced three major new additions to its Art Edition line for 2015 including a Walter Simonson‘s Battlestar Galactica Art Edition, which contains classic stories from Simonson’s run on Marvel Comics’ Battlestar Galactica comic book from 1979-1981.
Jose Gonzalez’s Vampirella Art Edition includes ten stories from Gonzalez’s character-defining 1970s stint on Vampirella. The selected stories include "Resurrection of Papa Voudou" written by Archie Goodwin, "The Blood Queen of Bayou Parish" by Steve Englehart, "An Eye for an Eye" by Bill DuBay, and "Spawn of the Star Beast" by Rich Margopoulos.
Also announced today was John Carter: Warlord of Mars--The Marvel Years Art Edition, the latest fruit of a recent licensing agreement between Dynamite and the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate (see "ERB & Dynamite Settle"). This Art Edition mines Marvel’s 1977-1979 run of John Carter: Warlord of Mars and features top flight artists like Gil Kane, Rudy Nebres, Bernie Wrightson, Alan Weiss, Ernie Chan, Sal Busema, Ernie Colon, and George Perez, to name just a few.
