Magnetic Press will release a complete hardcover collection of the comic Daomu, based on Xu “Kennedy” Lei's bestselling series of novels from China, in December.
The adaptation was done by Concept Art House for Image Comics in 2011 (see “Image Announces Daomu”), which released eight issues. This 244-page collection will offer the complete 225-page story along with bonus artwork and production design. The full-color hardcover edition has an MSRP of $29.99.
The original novel Dao Mu Bi Ji has sold over three million copies as of 2010, with an estimated 20 million in print on the black market. The book spawned numerous volumes, and Xu is considered “China’s Stephen King.” The story involves a young Chinese American who is called back to China and becomes embroiled in a family legacy of underground grave robbing to find priceless artifacts to help protect humanity.
