Catalyst Game Labs will release the cooperative card game Encounters: Bravest Warriors in 2015.
Catalyst announced plans for the game, based on Pendleton Ward’s popular Cartoon Hangover YouTube series Bravest Warriors, late last year (see "'Bravest Warriors' and 'Bee and Puppycat' CCGs"). The game uses the LevelUp system designed by Greg Gorden, and there will be two decks available separately: the Red Deck with Danny, Beth, Jelly Kid and Catbbug, and the Blue Deck with Chris, Wallow, Plum and Impossibear.
Players assume the role of the Bravest Warriors, and face a variety of challenges grouped into Episodes. Players chose which cards are faced, along with character abilities, then roll dice to defeat the challenges. Once a challenge is overcome, the card is flipped, revealing a reward, a trap, or another challenge. As players advance, their cards can be flipped to reveal new strengths and powers.
Each deck, which can be played alone, is for 2-4 players, and plays in 15-30 minutes. Both decks can be combined for up to 8 player games. Specific release date and MSRP were not announced.
A prototype of the game was available at Gen Con (see "Catalyst Game Labs Gen Con Updates").
