According to the Production Weekly Website Greg Rucka's Antarctic whodunit Whiteout, which was illustrated by Steve Lieber,  is set to go into production in March.  Director Dominic Sena (Gone in Sixty Seconds) is helming the project, which hasn't been this close to actually going into production since 2002 when Universal was developing it for Reese Witherspoon (see 'Universal Snags Whiteout Graphic Novel').  This time it's Warner Bros. that's behind the film and it's Kate Beckinsale who is in negotiations to star as U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko, who is faced with the difficult task of apprehending a murderer before the Antarctic night sets in and she and others will be trapped with a killer for six months in a nearly inaccessible research station.

Oni Press published the Whiteout graphic novels (Whiteout and Whiteout: Melt) and retailers can expect new editions well before the scheduled release of the Whiteout film in the first quarter of 2008.  The first Whiteout graphic novel won an Eisner Award in 1999 and is a prime candidate for a sales renaissance if, as appears increasingly likely, the film adaptation is made and released.
