At the New York International Toy Fair NECA announced that it had acquired the license to produce action figures based on the Castlevania movie, which is based on the popular Konami horror videogame that pits the Belmont family against Dracula through the ages. The Konami game, which debuted in 1986 (1987 in the U.S. and Europe) was one of the first gothic horror videogame sagas that took the genre seriously.

British director Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil) is helming the live action Castlevania film, while Warren Ellis is writing the screenplay for a direct-to-video Castlevania animated film (see 'Warren Ellis to Write Castlevania Movie').

NECA plans on releasing its first series of Castlevania figures, which will include Simon Belmont, Alucard, Dracula and Succubus, in October.

Also out in October will be two figures from the 1987 vampire film Lost Boys -- David and Michael.

As it has for the first two Pirates films, NECA will also be releasing two series of resin figures based on the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, At World's End -- the first in May in time for release of the film and a second series in August.

NECA will also release its sixth and seventh series of Nightmare Before Christmas Action Figures in the fall.
