'Green Hornet' Big Screen Buzz

Optioned by Columbia Pictures

Published: 03/22/2007 12:00am

Columbia Pictures has optioned feature film rights to The Green Hornet, and long-time Green Hornet fan Neal Moritz (Gridiron Gang, Click) is producing.  A screenwriter search will begin within a few weeks.

This is the third studio to put this property in development in recent years (see 'Green Hornet Gets Its Buzz Back').

The Green Hornet was first created for radio in 1936 (running to 1952) by Lone Ranger creators George W. Trendle and Fran Striker and first appeared in comic books and two films in the 1940s.  The Green Hornet 1966-67 TV series is probably best known for introducing Bruce Lee (Kato) to America.
