In an exclusive interview with Cinescape editor Eric Moro, Jordan Levin, the WB Network's President of Entertainment indicated that the network was planning on premiering a Birds of Prey television series next fall.  The fact that the WB had ordered a pilot episode for the Birds of Prey series from the same production company that created Smallville is well known (see 'Smallville Renewed For Second Season'), but many 'pilots' never manage to land on a network schedule.  But the WB network brass is already counting on Birds of Prey for their primetime schedule next fall, and that indicates the kind of faith the network now has in the 'humanizing' approach that the producers of Smallville have taken toward the superhero mythos (see 'No Tights, No Flights')

Birds of Prey has the potential to become a very interesting television series since it features two sexy female protagonists, the Oracle and the Black Canary.  The Oracle (aka Barbara Gordon) is a computer expert who is now confined to a wheelchair, but who used to take a much more physically active role in fighting crime as Batgirl.  Now it's the spunky Black Canary who provides the physical edge to this crime-fighting duo, while the Oracle provides the keen intelligence that directs this two-person war on the Gotham City underworld.
