Jay Lynch and John Pound, two of the bent and twisted creative geniuses behind Wacky Packages and the Garbage Pail Kids, have joined forces once again to provide us with a mega-dose of gross-out humor in the Silly CDs series of trading cards which parody today's over-exposed and over-hyped rock stars.  Among the divas and doofusses depicted in this 80-card set are Christina Aguilera (Pristina Eggulera), the Backstreet Boys (the Backwash Boys), Britney Spears (Spitney Beers), and Marilyn Manson (Marilyn Moron).  The Silly CDs cards benefit both from Jay Lynch's subversive imagination and John Pound's superb painting style, which is perfect for this sort of over the top illustration.  The colors are bright, the humor is broad and what's not to like?

The Silly CDs trading cards are debuting at Toy Fair.  The five-card foil packs have a suggested retail price of $1.99.  The cards will receive mass market distribution through the Target chain, but independent pop culture retailers should remain cognizant of the strong appeal that these broadly-humorous parodies have for teenage boys, who really 'get' all the musical references, and who secretly despise all the male teen heartthrobs, while lusting after the seemingly brainless but obviously booty-licious teen divas.  Silly Productions of Los Angeles publishes Silly CDs.
