Persepolis, the animated adaptation of the hit graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi (see 'Persepolis Movie Shown at Cannes') has been awarded a shared Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.  The prize was split with Silent Light, a story of adultery in a Mennonite  community in Mexico.

This Cannes Film Festival honor will give Persepolis a great kick-off with U.S. critics for its release in the States later this year.  The graphic novel, already a big hit in the trade, library, and educational markets, has the opportunity to get back into the top of the graphic novel bestseller lists as the film publicity grows.
