The poster for Sony's film adaptation of Steve Niles' 30 Days of Night clearly flogs the original graphic novel (published by IDW) with the caption 'Based on the Graphic Novel' right under the title itself.  The striking black and red poster design is also the key element in the opening page of Sony's official 30 Days of Night Website, which also includes a link to a new trailer on the IGN Website.

Sony Pictures' adaptation of 30 Days of Night is slated to open on October 19th and is likely to be one of the key horror film releases during the pre-Halloween period during which fright flicks usually do well.  Given the strong direct connection between the movie and graphic novel, retailers should consider having the 30 Days of Night graphic novels in stock, and retailers will have a number of volumes to stock, including the original 30 Days of Night graphic novel as well as numerous spin-offs and sequels including 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, 30 Days of Night: Return to Barrow, 30 Days of Night: Rumors of the Undead, as well as a new volume releasing in July, 30 Days of Night: Spreading the Disease.
