When Indiana Jones 4 hits theaters on May 22nd of next year it will have been almost exactly 19 years since the last Indy film hit the screens in May of 1989, but the long layoff has had very little apparent effect on licensing for the new film, which appears to be as strong as ever.  Hasbro, which long ago absorbed Kenner the company that made the original Raiders of the Lost Ark Indy figures, has stepped up to grab the license for action figure and role-playing toys, while LEGO will be the exclusive licensee for building sets.  A robust publishing program will include contributions from Random House, Scholastic, and DK Publishing (The Marvel Comics Encyclopedia), while LucasArts will release a new round of Indy-themed video games.

In addition to licensees, promotional partners are also lining up for Indy 4, which will get a major TV boost from Burger King and MARS North America.  Given the success that sequels have had at the box office this year, Indiana Jones 4 doesn't appear to be a very risky bet.
