At Anime Expo Digital Manga Publishing announced the release of a two-volume, deluxe slip-cased hardcover edition of Tatsuo Yoshida's original Speed Racer (Mach Go Go Go) 1960s manga.  The 1200-page dual-hardcover collection will retail for $39.95 and present Yoshida's classic manga (the inspiration for the 1967 anime series and the live action Speed Racer movie currently in production) fully restored in its best quality ever, complete with the inclusion of some color pages.  The deluxe Speed Racer collection is being produced under the new DMP Platinum imprint, and is likely to be released in February, which should give retailers several months of prime marketing time before the live action Speed Racer movie debuts on May 9th, 2008.

 

DMP also announced that it would publish Mikiyo Tsuda's shojo slice-of-life comedy drama Family Complex, a one-volume manga about an ordinary-looking teen born into a family where everyone else has drop-dead good looks as well as famed character designer Hakua Ugetsu's art book, Flamboyant, which will have four pages of art in the American edition that did not appear in the original Japanese version.

 

In addition DMP and its yaoi-publishing subsidiaries also plan on releasing 30 volumes of yaoi and shonen ai manga during the first six months of 2008.
