Indiewire is reporting that Samuel Goldwyn Films has announced the U.S. release of Richard Kelly's troubled science fiction epic Southland Tales on November 9th.  A disastrous showing at the Cannes Film festival in 2006 forced Kelly to rework his film, which features a star-studded cast including Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Justin Timberlake, Mandy Moore, Kevin Smith, Amy Poehler, and Seann William Scott.

The film's musical elements, which include a score by Moby and soundtrack contributions from Radiohead, The Pixies, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Killers and Jane's Addiction, are as impressive as the cast.

In addition to writing and directing Southland Tales Kelly has also written three Southland Tales graphic novels, which Graphitti Designs has published (see 'Graphitti's 2006 Movie Publishing Program'), so retailers will have product to sell if the film, which is set in 2008 Los Angeles, manages to make an impression on the market.
