Paramount Pictures has licensed Boom! Studios to create a comic book and graphic novel series based on Mario Puzo's Godfather novels and the films made from them.  The first issue of the new Godfather comic is currently slated for a winter 2007 release.  Boom! Studios has not announced the writer for the series, but Greg Scott (Enigma Cipher) will provide the art.

Boom! Studios has acquired the right to use the likeness of actor Marlon Brando and plans to flesh out the Godfather saga with a blend of tales from throughout the lifetime of Don Vito Corleone rather than just reiterating the episodes already dramatized in The Godfather film trilogy.  Boom! Studios plans to collect The Godfather comics into graphic novel-format books that will be distributed to the bookstore market (along with Boom!'s other graphic novels) by Perseus Books.
