IDW unveiled plans in San Diego to revive and reprint Doctor Who, Badger and Speed Racer and launch new series for each in 2008.  A new Doctor Who series kicks off in January, written by Gary Russell (story editor for the current TV series) with input from the series writer Russell Davies and art from Nick Roche.  The new comics series will feature the David Tennant/Freema Agyeman team currently starring in Season 3.

Also in December, IDW will release a newly colored Doctor Who series from Dave Gibbons originally published in the U.K. in the 1980s, which has never been released by an American publisher before.  Chris Ryall, IDW Publisher, told ICv2 'It's Gibbons at the start of his real breaking through in the industry, right before Watchmen. The stuff's beautiful and it's never been seen in color so that's kind of nice.'  Ryall said the series will be released in regular 32-page comic book format and will eventually be compiled into graphic novels.

The Gibbon's series starts with the fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) and it runs through some of the other Doctors.

Ryall and National Accounts Manager Alan Payne told ICv2 that IDW is interested in attracting younger audiences with properties like Speed Racer.  Starting in early 2008, IDW will launch a new Speed Racer comic series based on the original 60s show (and the new animated series starting later this year), as well as releasing collected trade paperbacks of series from NOW Comics in the late 80s and Wildstorm in the late 90s.

Ryall also mentioned that IDW will be publishing new Badger stories from Mike Baron and collected trade paperbacks of the older material, similar to the way in which they presented GrimJack and Jon Sable.
