Variety is reporting that Ice Cube's CubeVision production company is developing Boom! Studios' graphic novel 10 (by Andy Kuhn and Keith Giffen) as a starring vehicle for the rapper-turned-thespian.  The sold-out 10 graphic novel, which was released in 2006, is a Battle Royale-like nightmare contest in which ten people become unwillingly involved in a deadly game in which only one can survive.

Gustin Nash and Jesse Cale are adapting the graphic novel, which puts a whole new spin on junk mail -- the hero gets a letter informing him that he has been entered in a lucrative contest with nine others, but only one gets out alive to claim the prize.

Boom! Studios, which was co-founded by Andrew Cosby, creator of the Eureka TV series, is an example of the influx of talent and capital from Hollywood to the comic book industry (see 'Boom Studios Brings Movie, TV Scribes to SDCC').  Boom! recently named hired Mark Waid as its EIC (see 'Mark Waid Named EIC') and the publisher has a number of projects set up at various studios including the action thriller Talent and the horror comic Tag at Universal and Foundation at Paramount.
