'MapleStory' Anime in Japan

Produced By Madhouse

The Anime News Network is reporting that TV Tokyo will begin broadcasting an anime series based on the Korean online RPG MapleStory in October.  The MapleStory anime is being produced by Madhouse (Ninja Scroll, Trigun, Monster).

No U.S. anime company has announced the licensing of the MapleStory anime yet, but given the massive customer base of the 'free' MapleStory MMORPG, which has as many as 67 million players worldwide, it would appear to an attractive property, though North American anime companies may want to wait and see how Wizards of the Coast does with the its MapleStory iTCG, which it is launching in November (see 'WotC's MapleStory iTrading Card Game').
