Gen Con attendance hit a new high in its 40th anniversary year show in Indianapolis in August; 27,000 unique (91,000 turnstile) attendees thronged the show, according to convention organizers.  Comparable numbers for 2005, the last time attendance was announced, were 25,000 unique (82,000 turnstile) attendees.

 

New features included a first-time trade event, Gen Con Trade Day; an expanded electronic games area; and the Family Fun Pavilion, for family-friendly gaming (see 'GenCon Grows in New Directions'). 

 

Charitable events, which included an Art Auction, Klingon Jail-n-Bail, Aces to Aces, and Cardhalla, raised over $11,500 for the show's 2007 charity, Cristel House. 

 

Gen Con 2008 will be held at the Indianapolis Convention Center August 14-17 (Gen Con Trade Day programming will be August 13th).
