U.S. and Canadian rights for the anime features starring Unico, the unicorn character created by Osamu Tezuka, have been acquired by new U.S. anime company New Galaxy Anime.  Unico starred in three features, two of which were distributed in the U.S. on VHS and aired repeatedly on the Disney Channel in the 80s, acquiring a significant audience at the time and cult status now.

The first feature, The Fantastic Adventures of Unico, was directed by Tezuka himself and originally released in 1981.  The Japanese language versions of Fantastic Adventures of Unico and Unico in the Island of Magic (originally released in 1983), the sequel, have never been available in North America.  The pilot, Black Feather, White Cloud, was never released here.  All three have been remastered by Tezuka Productions.

New Galaxy Anime is a new company specializing in family friendly properties, especially shojo.
