Writers Strike Hollywood

Late Night TV First Casualty

Published: 11/05/2007 12:00am

Although talks continue, the Writers Guild of America has begun a strike against producers of movies and TV shows.  Scripts for many upcoming features have been banked, so production on movies is unlikely to be affected at first (writing for animated films is not under the WGA's jurisdiction).  Live late-night TV shows will be the first TV to be affected; fiction series will work through banked episodes before production is slowed.

The primary dispute is over the royalty rates on DVD sales for writers.
