On Two X-Men Manga Projects

Marvel Comics and Del Rey Manga announced at the New York Anime Festival that they are collaborating on two OEL manga projects, one shojo and one shonen, that will feature the X-Men and will be released in the spring of 2009.

The proposed shojo manga will take place at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters-- an all-boys school in this shojo series except for Kitty Pryde, who will be the heroine.  The series will combine the X-Men mythos with Hana Kimi-like shojo high school elements.  Rainia Telgemeier and Dave Roman will write the Kitty Pryde title with the Indonesian artist Anzu providing the pencils.

The other Marvel/Del Rey manga will be a shonen series featuring Wolverine to be written by Anthony Johnston -- no artist has been assigned to this project yet.
