Wizards of the Coast has announced that effective April 1st, the Heroscape brand, previously managed by Hasbro, will join the WotC family of products.  Originally released by Hasbo's Milton Bradley Games in late 2004, Heroscape is a build-and-battle miniatures game that should fit in well with WotC's other fantasy game offerings.

Wizards of the Coast is already working on Heroscape products and expects to release its first Heroscape SKU, Small Expansion Set 8: Defenders of Kinsland, a 19-figure set, which will include assorted heroes, militia, Marro GRoK Riders and Elves.  WotC is also planning to release additional Heroscape sets later in 2008.

A Wizards of the Coast spokesperson told ICv2 that future Heroscape product would ship to hobby and mass market accounts at the same time.  Asked whether WotC would continue to produce licensed Heroscape games and spin-offs, the WotC representative replied with a non-committal: 'We're still exploring our options and opportunities at this time.'

The WotC spokesperson would not directly answer a question about the discounts to the hobby channel, instead referring retailers to their WotC or distributor rep.
